Practical information on arrivals

Athens Airport arrivals can be checked in real time via the board above. Athens Airport handles 600-800 flight movements daily between arrivals and departures, with flights from all over Europe, the Middle East, Asia, North America and Africa. Traffic peaks are concentrated in the spring and summer months (April-October), coinciding with the Greek tourist season. The most frequent destinations are London (1.67 M passengers/year), Larnaca, Istanbul, Paris, Rome, Milan, Munich, Frankfurt, Amsterdam and Vienna.

After landing, allow about 1 hour for international flights (passport control + baggage claim) and 20-30 minutes for domestic Schengen flights. The baggage claim hall is located on the ground floor of the Main Terminal, on the same level as the car rental agency counters and the tourist information point. If you're picking someone up, arrive half an hour after the scheduled landing time.

Once outside the terminal, there are several options for reaching the city centre: rental car at the international agency counters (Avis, Hertz, Sixt, Europcar, Enterprise, Budget at the Arrivals Level), the official yellow taxi at exit 3 with a fixed fare of €40 (day) or €55 (night) to the centre, or the pre-booked Kiwitaxi private transfer. For passengers continuing on to the port of Piraeus, the X96 bus departs from the Arrivals Level between exits 4 and 5.
